Kingstone’s work explores ideas around narrative, histories, and the intangible nature of truth.  Kingstone’s work is about conversation. 100 Stories About My Grandmother  (2008) uses narratives to allow the audience into the personal, familial lives of male sex workers. Sharing family stories may seem banal, but inviting sex trade workers to do so becomes a way of including them in a society all too frequently eager to reject them.  Audiences are invited to spend time lounging and listening to the thoughts and memories of an often marginalized community, allowing the talked-about to talk, giving a voice to those who have been voiceless.

The Dumbells (2013) takes World War I Canadian performances and restages them in Northern Ireland.  Re-staging a work written during a time of war, on the brink of economic collapse that innocently played with gender sexuality allows us to look at ourselves in a new way.

As a queer artist Kingstone asks questions that step outside.  Kingstone will address his relationship to story telling, personal narratives, creation of art , and moving society during his talk.
